Title: 2 Fast 2 Furious
Rating: Three Stars
Okay, so this story follows Brian to Miami and he has to help the police get this guy Verone or Brian go to prison because of his actions in the first movie. And then he brings in a friend from his past because apparently, Verone needed a team of street racers for this job.
I did not enjoy it. It seemed to rely too heavily on street racing when that didn’t need to be in the plot at all. I get that it’s a Fast and Furious movie so there needs to be street racing with the cool cars… but they could’ve written a different story so it doesn’t feel so out of place.
As for Brian and Monica… what was the point? The writers could’ve just made Brian a nice guy who doesn’t leave someone behind and then there wouldn’t have been the unnecessary love interest that didn’t do anything to the plot.
Also, why the hell did this guy need to hire street racers to get his money for him? There were possibly much more discrete options that he could have chosen that could’ve avoided the whole chasing-through-the-city scenario. Why didn’t he just hire his little henchmen to get the money considering they were along for the ride anyway?
And another thing… is there some sort of machine that vomits up police cars or something? Where the hell are all of these police cars coming from? There’s like fifty in one shot, then get into a crash and then there’s still fifty in the next shot? What?
The main problem I had with this story was that Dom and his whole crew weren’t in it. This was only the first sequel so maybe they didn’t mean for the story to revolve around them, but they were such a big part in the first movie that it would’ve been better if they were in this one. It felt like I was watching an entirely different movie.
I would have given this movie two stars, but I decided to give it three, and you probably won’t be able to guess the reason. This movie contained rat torture in it during the scene where Verone is trying to get his dirty cop to do what he wants him to. Strangely enough, I have researched torture in the past and have always liked the idea of rat torture (don’t ask). I’ve always wanted to see it in action, so it earned this movie an extra star.
I don’t really have much else to say about this movie.
Recommended for people who want to watch a ‘cool’ movie.
